Oslo is an easy docked port in the heart of the city. You can walk to the Opera, MUNCH, the fortress and City Hall. Bygdøy's museums are a 10-minute ferry ride away.
Where Oslo lies
Where your ship docks
Oslo has two cruise quays in the city center. Port documents name Filipstadkaia (400 m, ships up to about 340 m) and Revierkaia (302 m, with shore power). Some ships also use quays below Akershus Fortress.
Shuttle. No port shuttle. You do not need one.

What goes wrong, and how to avoid it
Beware
- Oslo is expensive; meals cost much more than at home.
- Bygdøy ferry is seasonal; check times.
- Buy transit tickets before boarding; inspectors fine riders without them.
Do this
- An Oslo Pass covers transport and most museums; worth it if you do Bygdøy plus MUNCH.
Fees, money and access
Rules & fees
- Norway has no cruise passenger tax in 2026. A national fee of NOK 100 per passenger per 24 hours in port is proposed from January 1, 2027, if approved (reported by The Local Norway, March 2026). Norway's separate local tourist tax of up to 3% applies to hotel stays, not cruise passengers.
Accessibility
Docked in the city. The harbor promenade is flat and step-free. Trams have low floors on most lines.
Money
Norwegian krone (NOK). Cards, including tap-to-pay, work almost everywhere. Many places take no cash. Bring a card with no foreign transaction fee.
